Is there a different Power of Attorney needed to do someone's banking in Ontario?

My dad is very ill and we had a Power of Attorney for Property done up "just in case". Now with regards to his banking needs, we need to modify some restrictions on his account but his bank won't accept the POA for Property...they require him to come into the bank and sign papers...which he can't...

Many banks have their own power of attorneys. Let them know what the issue is and get the form that the particular bank uses. Then when your dad signs the form, make sure that you notarize it. Generally, signing in front of notary is sufficient. Ask the bank about it.
