First off the siblings that robbed the bank in Georgia have the last name Daugherty and the guy from American Idol's last name is Daughtry. I'm not sure if you're just mssing around or not but there are a lot of people with the same last name as them with no relation. I went to school with a Jackie Daugherty. Also if you're just curious about hypothetical there wouldn't be much a rich man could do to help those kids out at the moment. If you shoot at a police officer you're probably not going to be allowed bail especially after you have shown you're willing to run and do whatever you could to escape and for that same reason those outlaws probably know that and that is why they won't give themselves up. Some things like shooting at a police officer won't disappear no matter how much money you have. Or your family has.

He might not want to. If I had a brother who though that the world owed me a living, I would be reluctant to provide financial assistance especially if you had tried to help him and he didn't get his act together,
Ultimately, the brother is responsible for his own actions if he did in fact rob the bank.
