Most importantly is he needs to proove that he's income level is 125% above the poverty line to show that he can supports you and that you will not become a burden to the country. This can be showed by his income tax returns, his paystubs and that bank account or other assets. Some savings wouldn't hurt but I don't know the exact limits.

He doesn't need anything in the bank. For two people, you and him, he needs income of $17,500 per year.
