Having had no experience with HCU I can only comment on Cambridge Savings Bank.

Without going into detail, they did some things which irritated me so I took my business to Leader Bank. I like Leader a lot because it is a small bank where the people will know you personally, they are friendly, they offer good services and financial instruments...

Go with the flow

Choose the one that is most convenient for you.
Do you need 24 hour customer service - then a big bank will do
Do you like lots of ATM locations?
Do you need something on the way to work, home or school?

All banks are essentially the same.
The advantage of credit unions is lower fees in case you overdraft.
Keep at least 2 weeks pay as a minimum in your checking - and you never have to worry about this.
If you tend to keep low balances - credit union is the way to go.
