Is Land Economy at Cambridge good for a career in investment banking?

Will my degree negatively affect my chances of getting into investment banking or will it boost them since it is economics related and at Cambridge standards? Is it good for asset management / M&A in particular? I would prefer to study economics but I don't think they would accept me then. Can I do an MBA after...

Hi

I went to Cambridge, read Economics and then did IBD at Goldman.

Economics as you say is more attractive to employers. Whilst they don't search out Land Economy degrees going to Cambridge and doing any subject will increase your chances more than going to a second tier uni and doing Economics.

Good luck,

Land economy may help you a little, but not a great deal. Try to get into Economics and if you cant do something like Finance, Mathematics or Physics, i.e. something with alot of applied math in it. Once you get a degree in this area, you can do an MBA and hopefully get into internships at larges banks like JP morgan, Barcs and GMAN Sachs etc. And then a full time position.
