Why not? Two Japanese men bought one of our towns! A central part of Dallas was bought and rebuilt by Canadians too. I think this is commonplace.

I do not like this practice, but our nation and people do this too. We have ex-pats living all over the world now. The retirees are finding new homes in different countries for the sake of living better for lower costs. They buy their retirement homes there and place their money in foreign banks. However, they enjoy low medical costs, cheaper food products and less taxes.

We have been slowly moving into a world conglomerate. We no longer stand our ground as a country on its own. Instead, we have allowed policies which have reduced this once great nation into being a standard nation. As for other countries and the conglomerate...look at Greece and parts of Europe to understand why conglomerates can be very costly. We are feeling the affects of this one world standard monetarily too.

I heard that broadcast too, but then they added that there are already 8 china owned banks in the USA already (they listed NY and CA as having a couple but I didn't catch where else). I was dismayed. Like "what's happening with this country and who is allowing them to do that". You know that china is sending rich chinese pregnant women to the USA to have their children born here so they will have dual citizenship. Whether that then allows them to have more children or not I don't know but there may be other reasons for doing that.

It's another step toward a full global market. When other countries have more invested in our country, or some portion of our country, than we do, I can't help but feel a twinge. It is conceivable that with enough "take overs" the laws now in place could possibly be thrown out the window and replaced with new rules by the new owners. After all money is power.

Hopefully, the more ties we have with other nations, the more well regulated and honest their dealings will be with us when our interests are at stake. In the past, China has not been very fair to U.S. interests in areas like the equities market, or copyright laws, or quality control in manufacturing.

It's a dog eat dog world. We are America owned by everyone else.Who knows maybe a blessing in disguise. We used to be the country everyone turned to. Now look at us. Don't know if it is true, but I heard Japan owns a lot of land over here in the u.s... I feel like we are at the mercy of who ever has all the dough.

China doesn't get a say in the rules of the bank. So what if the owners are Chinese? They put up the cash and they take their chances just like everybody else in business. Don't get your panties in a twist. I own international stocks. It doesn't mean that i am a traitor to the USA. All it means is I will invest where i have the opportunity to make the most profits.

I'm sure there are banks in other countries that have been taken over by US interests over the years. What goes around, comes around.

As long as we are a capitalist country and believe in capitalism, then it is going to happen. We have done similar things all over the world for our benefit.

I hope they do a better job than banks have been doing.
