I worked in the Canadian Banking system for over 20 years....If you don't carry a minimum balance of $1,500.00 in your account, they hit you for every transaction...sometimes twice when it comes to ATM's.

Jack is just trying to get the easy votes. He knows that it will never fly. It is just like the Green Party saying that they want to get everyone five weeks paid vacation....
The banks pay a company called interact to connect all of the banks together. When you go to Bank A to get your funds from Bank B, Interact does all of the work and charges Bank A for it. Since this company is not a charity, the bank passes the charge onto the user. This is fair since you don't have an account with the first bank.
The banks do not all use the same mainframes. There are major differences in the way that they work.
Sure I'll take it, but if you think about all the transactions the bank handles for you in a month, usually with a minimal balance and if you're on a proper account plan the $15 or so a month or so isn't really so much for them to handle all of those transactions for you -- kind of opportunistic of him, but that just makes him a savvy politician I guess.
I can't see anyone winning a majority the way things are -- I don't think Harper has really lost any of the support he won his minority with -- if anything he's marginally stronger -- think about it, he has actually done what he said he was going to do and he runs an honest government -- a nice change from those other guys
For the first time in recorded history, Jack made sense. Flaherty agreed with him. It seems Jack has finally figured out that for someone to listen or act on something he says, it has to first be logical and second presented without histrionics. We will never hear PM Layton (not unless he grows up and joins the Cons or Libs and they make him leader), nor is it likely we will hear the words PM Dion (who is just another Chretien crook). And by the way, please present some facts that Harper follows American policy. Before you react, remember that we are NOT in Iraq and are in Afghanistan as part of a NATO mission, and that the 500% increase in the tar sands was a Liberal initiative rejected by Harper's government..
my bank does not charge me for getting my own money...if it did I would change banks. I don't really see a problem for a bank charging when the money is actually being fronted for another system, then it needs to route to the bank you are actually borrowing from. The charges for the system are a little high and that should be looked into.
