Im with halifax bank and heading to dublin for the weekend.?i dont have any euros yet and was wondering would i get a decent exchange rate using my halifax bank card at an atm in dublin. as im going tomorrow what would be my best option to get the most out of my ££££s |

Go to a Halifax ATM when you get to Dublin, that way you shouldn't be charged extra fees. There's one in College Green and Stephens Green in the City centre.

The airport has ATMs and a Bureau d'Exchange if you're stuck either!
Man I hope Claire is taking the piss, You will probably get the best rate in Dublin airport believe it or not, we have halifax branches here in Ireland so I guess if you find a branch you should use there atms, otherwise I think you will get charged 5 euro per transaction using a U.K. card in any other of our 16000 atm machines
if you travel from the north some atms give you the option of euro or sterling but if its only pissing money theres no point trying to get value over exchange rates. in the south your bank will deduct the current going rate in sterling from your account. say 70 cent to the pound. say you take out 70 euro back in blighty your bank account will be down 44 quid or whatever. avoid using sterling in bars or shops in the south they will give usually 50 cent to the pound. most bars in touristy areas will take sterling usa dollars anything really that they know the current exchange rate for and can readily bank it for a profit.
edit: oops sorry i should add, if you get out 1k and are able to set up an account with a 6 counties bank say the ulster bank or bank or ireland you shouldnt be charged for any transaction from a 26 counties atm. in theory anyway. i never get charged
