Yes it might be late since for small transaction they are fast.
Most banks now have Fast Payments for smaller amounts.
Use online banking to transfer a couple of quid from another account into your bank account ASAP and you'll probably get away with it. This trick even works on weekends too (I have prevented surcharges from Barclays this way).
either it will be too late and your credit won't go through or they'll take your money and you bank will charge you a fee for going overdrawn. either way you probably should have waited
