I live in the Dallas area and I need help choosing a new bank?

I am currently banking with Bank of America. Since Bank of America offers very low interest rates, I am planning to move some or all of my money to one or more banks that offer higher interest rates. I live in the Dallas area, and these are the banks that I have been reading about: Bank of Texas BBVA...

In my experience, it doesn't matter what bank or credit union you choose. The all offer high interest rates until 3 months after you move your money.

Checking: Look for zero fees with low balance requirements. My bank has a checking account with zero fees if I maintain $5,000 balance. Another bank requires direct deposit of $500 or more per month to get zero fees. And remember, after you sigh up, their zero fee program may terminate or change.

Few banks offer much over 1% on your balance. Then you pay taxes on that miniscule amount anyway.
