Banks in the USA used to do that, but many no longer do. My bank gives me a choice: either I can elect to receive monthly statements electronically, or I can elect to receive quarterly statements in the mail (or both). But they will not mail out monthly statements any longer.

I suppose there may be some banks that still do though.

I do but have heard that some banks charge their customers to give the canceled checks back, mine are photocopied on the bank statement. My daughter had a checking account in college, they didn't send statements unless you paid extra, a lot of the students were having overdrafts and problems balancing their checking accounts because of that.

Normally yes, but you can opt out of receiving them every month if you want, or just check online or by phone.
I use the banks 24 hour automated phone service.
Why exactly do you need to know this?....

Depends - I used to get mine in the mail, but I signed up for eStatements and now I access my statement online instead.
