A charged off status is when a Co. deducts the loss from their taxable income. Sounds like there was a negative balance on the account. Go into the bank that you closed and opened the accounts in person and try to get some answers. When you call you usually get a customer service center, their job is to give you an answer, get you off the phone, and move onto the next caller.
