If I could afford it or if I could get my insurance to pay for it, heck yeah!

My mom donated milk from when she was breastfeeding me, and they were always so grateful even for 1/4 of an oz of milk. They said her milk was always clean so they didn't have to check it and could give it directly to the preemies. These days they're much more careful (AIDS mostly) but it's still so very important for preemies. Those tiny babies have problems digesting normal formulas and one of the only times breastmilk makes such a huge difference is with preemies. They can have their gut flora die, the breastmilk helping to establish and strengthen it and keeping babies alive, but the babies who don't get it, especially preemies, can have a deadly disease come from lack of it. You would literally be saving lives!

There is such a need for breastmilk too. They have to ration it. It goes first to those with health-problems, the preemies, etc, then they can sell it to people like me who couldn't make enough, and the lack of people willing to donate make it so that there's usually none for the normal babies who's mothers have health issues that kept them from breastfeeding. It's just such a wonderful thing to donate breastmilk, and ever drop gets used.

Yes, I would. It's especially good for premature babies. There is a milk bank at the hospital I delivered at and I am going to go and sign up to donate as well.

ETA: I wouldn't donate if I had thrush, though, and I don't know if they'll even take your milk if you do.

I most of the time that is for premature babies who can not digest formula... it's very noble of you to consider donating... with that said I would absolutely NOT take another woman's breast milk because you never know what that person was eating or doing and what you ingest will effect your breast milk... I would take formula 1st there are some formulas out there that are just as good as breast milk. but again I'm not in a situation where I would have to, most of the time it's for premature babies. It's hard to say what I would do in that exact situation.

Milk donated is kept at the hospitals for premi babies who's mothers cannot feed. Its life saving stuff. It is also sometimes sold to cancer patients as there is nothing better for digestion and there is an ingredient in it that kills cancer cells. You would be helping many people of all ages.

Yes I would if it were the same price or cheaper than formula. Maybe even a little more. but I've heard it's expensive, so the cost of breast milk unfortunately affect my decision!

Yes. Breast milk is the best option for baby and then the next best thing is someone else's breast milk.

Yes, definitely. You could also look into MilkShare.

I think it's funny that some people get grossed out by the idea of feeding their baby another mother's milk, but nothing of feeding their baby another species' milk.

Yes.

Lots of babies in the NICU use donated breast milk.

I wasn't able to breastfeed but I just gave my son formula instead. I personally woulnd't feel comfortable feeding someone else milk to my own son, but that's just a personal preference.
