Will the bank be able to tell a forged check?

Share |

My friend got a payment from an insurance claim he made. The problem is that he never got the car under his name so the insurance sent out a check to my friend but it was under the previous owners name. Since he had no communication with that owner he signed the back of check as close to the signature on pink slip....

This is wrong on so many levels, it's hard to believe.
First, your friend is an idiot. He doesn't have clear title to the car, which also means he doesn't have a valid registration for the car. If he ever gets stopped - for ANY reason - he will have to explain that one to the arresting officer (and he WILL be arrested).
Oh, yeah, the other responders are correct. He has little chance of cashing the check, and considering the size of the check, it will be a felony.
In the military, we have a name for people like that: ONE DELTA TEN TANGO.

The bank is going to deny this check, flat out.

You forgot the fact that the check isn't made out to your friend AND it doesn't sound as though he endorsed the check to himself anyway.

Regardless, the bank is going to deny the payment.

This is a serious crime and he would go to prison (not jail, serious prison) for this offense. Your friend is flat out attempting to commit fraud.

Don't expect an answer when you ask how you can do criminal activity.
Easy jail time. Easy.
