No. The Greek people want to stay in the EU and see it, along with the euro, as their best guarantee of a prosperous future. They are prepared to suffer grievously to do this. Remember that a number of non-member countries are enthusiastic about joining the EU and none (not even the UK) is seriously considering leaving. The EU is a young and dynamic institution and is on its way to becoming a confederation with common economic, fiscal, foreign and defence policies whilst retaining maximum subsidiarity. This will enable it to hold its own in the world and act on equal terms with the USA, China, Japan, India and Russia. Current problems are like the tantrums of children and the bad behaviour of youth and do not constitute evidence that death will ensue before adulthood: nothing is further from the truth.
