Why can't Jordan just take the West Bank and Egypt take the Gaza Strip?

Wouldn't the problem be solved then? I mean Jordan IS Palestine. The Brits separated ONE country (Palestine) into 2 parts: Trans-Jordan (now Jordan) and Palestine. If West Bank became part of Jordan they'd reunite. I don't see the harm in that. Also the Gaza Strip could go to Egypt. I don't see...

Jordan is not Palestine. The government of Jordan (the Hashemites) come from the Hijaz region of the Arabian peninsula.

The Jordanian government doesn't care about its people, nor the Palestinians. In 1970 the Hashemites fought a bloody war with the PLO forcing them into Lebanon which started the Lebanese civil war (look up black september).

Similarly, Egypt thinks of the negev desert as an extension of the Sinai peninsula, not its own region.

Thus, the Palestinians need their own government, not one under the Hashemites who hate them, or the Egyptians who believe they're Egyptians.\

LOOOOOOOOL did you fail history? There was a civil war going on WAYYYYYYYYYYY before Israel's independence.

@Asker

Do you not know about Trans-Jordan's history? Trans-Jordan (and Iraq) were given to the Hashemite clan, the British's allies in WWI. They were promised all of Arabia but the Sauds captured all of the region from Kuwait to the Hijaz region. The Hashemite kingdom fell in Iraq but in Trans-Jordan it survived. Trans-jordan was named "Imrat Sharaq al Ourdan" as it essentially means "the east of the Jordan river." The PEOPLE of Jordan are ethnically the same as the people of Palestine, in the same way the people of Lebanon & Syria are ethnically the same, or the Egyptians and Sudanis are too. However, partition & nationalism took hold and here we are. The Hashemites do not care for the Arabs west of the Jordan river and abused them, as they did in 1970, and during their occupation of the West Bank.

If you argue "Well the Jordanians are the same as the Palestinians" you must also say "The Egyptians are the same as the Sudanis." "Saudi Arabians are the same as the Bahranians, Qatarians, Kuwaitis, Iraqis, Yemenis, Omanians etc." "The Syrians are the same as the Lebanese, Palestinians, and Jordanians." Nationalism took root in the Arabian peninsula after the Sykes-Picot agreement. The Lebanese, for example were never an Independent nation, some people cite Phoenicia yet that included parts of Modern Israel, Jordan, and Syria. The Lebanese were given a state for the majority Maronites in the region, by the French.

Palestine (Philistine in Arabic) was historically a region. The bible mentions them;

Joshua 13:2 "This is the land that yet remaineth: all the borders of the Philistines, and all Geshuri,"

This is how it was before the 6 day war. Israel took the land after they beat Arab forces. They're still occupying it to this very day. Israel also took the Sinai peninsula from Egypt after Egypt's defeat but returned it in exchange for peace in 1979.

There was no real Palestinian identity before 1967. "Palestinians" were just called "Arabs" who were occupied by Egypt in the Gaza Strip and Jordan in the West Bank. The Arabs in Israel were/are Israeli Arabs. None of the Arabs at that time wanted a state called "Palestine", but militants wanted to drive out the Jews and many still do. If they had succeeded in 1948 then most likely Arab countries would have argued over who gets to control what parts of the land and especially Jerusalem.

Side note: Israel would be much smaller today if Arabs had accepted the UN partition plan in 1947-8 instead of saying NO and declaring war on Israel.

Because Palestine should be ruled by Palestinians not by Jordanians, nor Egyptians nor Jews,, and I mean PALESTINE including West bank, Ghazza and the land called Israel nowadays.

?

No Thanks , As an Egyptian I don't want Gaza . being their neighbors is a pain in the *** and having them live with us would be MUCH worse! we already have enough terrorists in Egypt , the Muslim Brotherhood and openeing our country for Hammas would make matters in Sinai worse .
I never heard a palestinian call himself Egyptian , they don't like us .
If u like palestinians that much take them to live with u

Major Boobage

Hahaha!!

"the Jews and Arabs can live happily ever after."

The only way this will happen is if the Muslims are exterminated to a man, woman, and child. If every Muslim were to set their weapons down and hug their children, we would have peace in the Middle East. If every Jew were to set down their weapons and hug their children, we would have another holocaust. This is the absolute truth.

This happened already...after the Israel/Arab war; the problem is, jORDON AND eGYPT KEPT THE TERRITORIES ALL TO THEMSELVES AND the Palestinians became refuges.
