Which is the most accessible and popular bank in Vancouver?10 points for this!!! |
As far as banks to deal with, my favourite for everyday banking is TD Canada Trust, because they are open longer than the others in most places. Other large banks to consider are Scotiabank, Bank of Montreal, Royal Bank, CIBC(Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce), and there are other smaller ones.
One difference between the US and Canadian banks is that ours are nationwide. If you have an account with a branch in Vancouver, you can go to a branch anywhere else in the country and as long as you have your ATM card (sometimes they'll ask for confirming ID but not usually), you can do most of your business as if you were at your home branch.
There are also many credit unions. Their fees are much lower than the fees charged by the banks. Coast Capital has a "no-fee" account that is readily available through locations and banking machines.

You can also look into online accounts offered by ING Direct or similar institutions.
My preferred account is with PC Financial which is CIBC set up through Loblaw's. There are limited locations but everything can be done online and their interest rate is topped up with incentives.

Bank of Montreal
Laurentian Bank
National Bank of Canada
Scotiabank
Royal Bank of Canada (RBC)
Toronto Dominion (TD) Bank
TD is open 7 days a week
Credit Union I like best is Coast Capital
TD is most accessible. They have longer hours than most of the others.
Spanish Banks beats all those lame "indoor' banks. And there's so much to do too! Picnics, volleyball, skimboarding, soccer, kitesurfing...
I'd go the credit union way instead.
