The question isn't about trading licenses or the service industry lol

My only question is if you mean prop trading or floor trading (changes things a bit)

UBS

1) Competitive salary (roughly top 3 in US for bulge bracket), great prop group (met a guy, 1st year in, made $1.5m) which is a main driver of firm profit, good hours comparatively, flexibility unlike most banks with premier locations around the world
2) Relatively laid back and congenial...they definitely seem more relaxed than most floors and have THE largest trading floor in the US (in Stamford, CT)--size of like 2 football fields I think
3) same as above

Goldman Sachs

1) Le Premiere of the bulge bracket and provides the most security going forward of any I-Bank in the world, pay is great (definitely near/at top), bonuses are outstanding and best in biz
2) Similar to UBS with a bit more flash and professionalism on floor...everyone has a pulse on everything that is moving
3) Very friendly yet professional; top flight talent across the board
--Bonus....basically controls FED considering like half the FED came from Goldman lol

Notable Mentions (in order): Merrill Lynch, Citigroup

First I don't think banks do trades. Banks are looking for long term accts. Like Mutual Funds or Annuities. banks are also laying off people and making the people they are keeping cover more jobs. What investing licenses do you have or want to get? Series 6, 63, will help you do Mutual funds and Annuities. Series 7 for stocks and equities. Series 3 for commodities and 26 for brokers lic. You can't do any of that successfully at any bank. Yea sure there are some like Leamen(hurting), Bear Stearns(gone),Citi(cutting back). Do some home work and really look at the financial service arena. What do you want out of it. Get a job at a bank as a clerk and pick their brains. Or intern at a brokerage.
