If you are able to, why not take the train from either Little Silver or Middletown and walk down to the fireworks? I have done this in the past and it has worked exceptionally well. You can avoid the traffic and still see the fireworks. If walking is an issue, check out the fireworks from the lawn of the Beacon Hill Country Club on Navesink River Road. They always host a huge crowd of visitors.
