It is a Marketing job. While in the Nationalised bank, people behave as if the Bank is owned by them and they are favouring the customers They get their salary irrespective of their contribution.
Their career growth is based on their community and seniority, subject to be pushed back by the Reservation and Quota Regime.

In the Private Banks, their existence is based on their Performance. It is the job of the Sale Officer (now termed as Marketing or Relationship Manager) to convince the Public about the credibility of their Bank and assist the customers in all possible ways to make them their constituents and account holders. The sky is the limit for career development and merit is recognised.
