You will need your photo ID. If you have a deposit account with a financial institution the easiest way is to deposit the check in your account. There may be a hold placed. If you do not have an account and for some reason do not want one, you will need to go to the drawers bank (look at the check to see which bank the check is from). They will cash the check for you. Because the amount is over $10,000 the bank will require a currency transaction report.
I do not recommend you carry around that much cash.
This is going to be simple: They won't cash it!
My best advise for you is to simply deposit the check into your bank. They are going to place a hold on the check, if it's an unusual transaction in your account.

If you can, open an account at the Bank where the Check is drawn from. They are not able to place a hold on their own item. You now can take money instantaneously. Although i can guarantee that they won't easily give you 35K in cash. This involves CTR and a massive loss exposure to you and to the bank. A withdrawal of more than 10K in cash is just not normal. You'll raise eyebrows and will definitely be escorted to the Bank Managers desk. You'll get the whole speech of the bank doesn't carry that much cash - even if they do, they simply won't give that large sum to one person. They are protecting themselves. In special circumstances you may be able to get that large sum as a special order that needs to be scheduled 3-5business days in advance. Eventually you can take it out in increments.
As long as one of those is a picture ID, you should be able to cash a check. However, the bank is not going to just give you $35K in cash. You will have to deposit the check and wait for it to clear before you can take cash. There will be at least a week's hold, if not more.
Why would you want that much in cash to carry around anyway?
Speak to a customer service rep and just ask what they can do for you before you make the deposit.
