Banks in Paragon, IN

Self-righteous paragons make me vomit!

Try looking at it from someone else's point of view.

Not everyone is a careless spendthrift, happily 'using other people's money' because they can't be bothered to budget properly.

Pensioners on Pension Credit get their income topped up to £130 pw - could you live on that? Could you budget for the 50% that gas and electricity rose by last winter? It no coincidence that 50% more people died last winter than is normally the case.

How do you manage to feed, clothe and house your children if you're a divorced mother trying to manage on the minimum wage or less. Very few lone-parents are single mothers, in council houses with 72" plasma TVs. Most are desperately lonely people, trying to raise their children properly, with barely life's basics .

Or an 18 year-old, dumped out of care, isolated, and trying to manage on less than the minimum wage?

Just try walking a mile in someone else's shoes before you come out with smug, complacent, holier-than-thou attitudes.

Think of all the billions of pounds given to banks to bail them out lately. If these charges were deemed unfair, I doubt the banks would be able to recover from giving back the money.

But the way it was reported sounded to me like they are reviewing the criteria by which they decide whether or not the charges were 'fair'... another report said they simply didn't have to be fair.

Which suggests it ain't over yet.

'Know it all' - I do agree, however does that include charging someone £35 for going overdrawn by 2p?

Disgraceful I paid a bill a couple of years ago and there was a hidden surcharge on it I went overdrawn by 89p and The Abbey charged me £60, I told them to go whistle, they're not getting it. Banks usually charge around £35 when the cost to them can be as little as £2.50 it's a rip off.

It doesn't have any effect on me as I don't get overdrawn and I have an Overdraft facility which anyone can set up with their bank.
My feeling is if you use money that's not yours then too bad if they charge you for the privilege.

the govt now own the banks guess who'll get the xtra revenue. another ploy to pull the wool over our eyes.

Know It All

Damn right.

Why should all the people who are bad with money get free overdrafts and not ge penalised for using their debit card when they don't have enough money in their account.

I don't pay fees because i live within my means. if i can't affors something I don't buy it. Simple as that. And so then the bank can't charge you for going overdrawn or anything.
