Why exactly are you unhappy with them? I use them for banking and was considering their card because they offer scorewatch.

You should not cancel this card until you get another card, that way if your fico goes down because you cancelled the card, you will have already got yourself another. This will keep you from getting declined hopefully.

I work for a bank, and if you have a secured card, it's to help you build your credit score, and I know you are probably thinking that almost a year of on time payments, never paying late or going over the limit would do wonders for your FICO score, but it doesn't always. I would check your credit before canceling anything. Go online and look for a way to get a copy of your credit report, you can usually find a place to go for free. As far as your annual fee, no matter what credit card company you go to, if you have a secured card product, there is an annual fee. I am sorry that you haven't had much luck with their customer service. But again, before you cancel, check out your score.
