HSBC bought out Midland bank around 20 years ago..I doubt very much if they still trade any parts of it under the Midland name anymore.
Google HSBC and see if they do indeed still trade as Midland.
Can't give you a full answer, but it might be a start.
1) It is true that HSBC bought out the banking operations of Midland Bank plc and reasonable to suppose that some operations remained with the original company - but in a quick search on the internet, I didn't find any record of the original company name, except an address in Venezuela.
2) If you are told you have to do something within 24 hours, at a weekend, and it's to do with "claims", I would be VERY suspicious. It is most likely a scam.
If there is a branch of HSBC, or contact phone number for them, you could ask them. Or ask any bank open today for a contact number/address for Midland Bank plc. Don't give out any personal information, or pay any money, to someone telling you there is something waiting for you to claim, without being VERY sure of the source. In any case, if it is bona fide, it will wait until Monday.
Just think about this... Why would they randomly email you saying you have 24 hours to give them your details so they can just 'give' you a huge inheritance of someone you don't know or a prize for a lottery you have not entered?....
Also consider this, Why oh why would I get the very same message several times a week...? lol
