Over the Bridge just before you have to turn north or south is a visitors center that we stop at to pick up guides and brochures (and use the"comfort" facilities), stretch our legs and wait for our house to be ready as you definitely want to beat the traffic on the bridge. Going to "Pigman's and grocery shopping are other options, (the Food Lions are
like Time's Square on New Year's Eve! We like the northerrn end, Corolla/Duck , and had very good luck with Village Realty (VillageRealtyOBX) (I think...)
They have a very good website (As others do, ) and you do need to book early for best choice. Without kids we used to liked to book the last week before prime and saved a nice chunk of money, that may not be possible if you have to wait for the kids to be out of school. There are very few smaller beach front houses but there is a golfing community that have a number of 2& 3 Bedroom houses. If you have any more ?'s please feel free to write!
There are a lot of places to rent houses in OBX. We go every year and these are 2 of that we use. But there are at least another 3-4 big names.
