On the North Carolina coast, where is a good spot to fish for sharks on the bank or surf?

The answer about fishing next to a pier piling is a good one. Ive fished the pier enough to.have seen many sharks off the pier on the Outer Banks. I would.also suggest you fish during the early morning or better yet the early evening hours. This is usually when sharks feed, and many of the shark attacks on OBX happen in the evening.

Avon pier has always been a great pier for sharks. I dont know whether theyvallow.it anymore, but Ive seen some.huge sharks caught there.
Another place is.the point in buxton,.nc, and to fish the north side to the old lighthouse jetyies. There are times there where the water is very calm. You just have to be there at the right time. The south side of the point.id typically much calmer.but not usually as good. In the ols days we used to see fishermen catch hammerheads on Frisco's beach at night. The water is calm.there but its become very.flat in recent years so i dont.know how good it is.

I think the ferry channels in.the Pamlico.sound could be great for sharks. I have hooked some huge fish there at night which I never got in. I have also.sren sharks in this channel when ridingg the ferry..

My last idea is down at Cape Lookout, in the inlet. The water has current, but all the fishing boats pass through there, and, because it os the main access to the harbors.where the dump their carcasses, this is probably.a very high shark area. It also has the benefit of having.a jetty which acts like a pier in the fact that it is structure and thus attracts fish which.would.be an added food source for sharks. Hope this helps...

Look in a shallow area next to a piling and fish like twenty feet beyond that where currents are. The pilings feed baitfish and shark wait for baitfish to straggle near them.
