Some banks do charge a fee to open the account, a monthly maintenance fee, and/or an inactivity fee if you don't do anything with the account for however many months. The only ones I know about specifically are Chase and Akron Municipal Employees Credit Union. The Credit Union charges only the inactivity fee. Chase charges the maintenance fee, but there are ways to avoid it, and all the information is right there on their site. I avoid it because I signed up for a program (I think it's called "automatic saver") where they automatically transfer $25 from my checking to my savings every month.

Some banks charge you a "maintenance fee", some set a minimum balance you must keep in the account, and others are completely free. Each of the banks that you listed should have a website where you can check for their specific policies on their savings accounts. Also, there should be multiple choices on savings accounts and depending on what each of them offer some may have a fee and some may not. Just do some research and figure out what you're looking for.

Not if you get the right bank.

Every bank will publish its fee structure. It should be available at the bank's website and will certainly be available in the bank branches. Banks should pay you for the use of your money, not the other way around.

That depends on the bank.
