My friend is being charged with bank robbery in Lancaster County PA?

his public defender is saying that he most likely get 9-16 months and he has already served 6 and has yet to be arraigned. he has no prior record and the robbery was unarmed. he supposedly got away with 7 grand. i was just wondering how realistic is it for him to get 9-16 months considering this crime? it seems...

Hey, didn't I answer your dumb@ss question yesterday? What happened to that answer?

If the public defender says 9-16 then he is probably right. Now if he's served 6, it is possible he could get off with time served and probation. I think that is a little low but, since this is his first crime and arrest, and it wasn't armed robbery, the judge could give him that sentence. Now, if you have a judge that is tough, and wants to charge him with grand larceny, since it was over a couple of hundred dollars and into the thousands, then it will probably be longer.

Now he's robbing banks in Lancaster? You would think he'd be getting a lot more than 7 grand each time he robbed a bank. What is this now -- number 6? He better be careful or he's going to get his bail removed. What? You don't find this a serious answer?

I am aspiring to be a lawyer and that punishment seems too lenient. If he robbed that bank, he deserves at least 5-10 years in prison.

it is realistic sentence. By the time they get around to trying him he will probably get off with time served - meaning he has already served the perscribed sentence before the trial and does not need to do more

my brother robbed a bank in california back in 1972 and he did 30 months for it and he used a gun but he was sentenced to 6 months to life

You should be surprised he isnt getting more than that! They could really nail him. Any type of robbery could easily be 2 years.
