I work as a bank teller and my bank was robbed today. I wasn't the person that was robbed (actually I didn't even know my co-worker was being robbed until after the robber left). We closed the bank immediately. I was fine while I was there but now that I'm home I keep thinking about the fact that it...

I would take a couple of days off as a consequence of emotional stress and go visit a Professional whi will provide better assistance. Trying to cope with situations of this type might be hard but think and be glad it wasn't you. Be happy nobody is phisically hurt.

You can't do anything to change the past, but you can focus yourself on the positive aspects. For one, you were very fortunate to not have been hurt. For another, the odds of getting hurt or killed in a bank robbery are very low-- just look at all the days you worked there and nothing went wrong.

The possibility of disaster striking will never be reduced to zero, but it is usually so low we don't notice it. You've just had that possibility brought to your attention, so it's natural to worry about it. But still, there will be many more days where nothing goes wrong. After you've been back to work without mishap, you'll once again realize that most days are harmless and uneventful, and you'll calm down. Just give yourself some time.

I think you should sit down and talk to a close relative or friend about the situation and how you felt. Don't dwell on the fact that it could of been you, think about the fact that it wasn't you. Take this as a chance to comfort your co-worker. Be somewhat thankful that you weren't put in that situation. Try thinking about how if it were to ever happen again how you could handle it and be prepared. If you feel too overwhelmed, stay home from work, but try to return to work in order to pass this. See it as an obstacle, don't let someone's greedy and stupidity upset you.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if your branch manager or someone like that talks to all the employees tomorrow and provides some reassurance, etc.

But talk to your co-workers. Support the teller who was the target. Go to lunch together.

and, of course, pray. Ask God for help, for peace, for comfort. He is a very present help in time of trouble.

god bless

I'm really sorry about that horroble event, thank God you're fine.

If you know a counselor, talk to him or her, if you don't, ask for a professional.

Before you enter to the bank, take a deep breath, take it again and again and again, all the times you need.

And think: a lighting doesn't fall twice in the same place, don't be afraid to go to work

Butch up. Bank tellers are very, very rarely hurt during robberies. Or, get a different job.
