Looking at a bank owned house, does it have rats?

Share |

This house is a bank owned property that has been vacant since september 2011. It's a beautiful twin house in East greenville, pa. We love the house, and it needs minor repairs(carpet and paint). But the master bedroom in the attic that has a master bathroom had droppings. I don't think they were mice...

The best thing a person can do is talk with neighbors, because if some thing is going on they would generally have the same kind of issues.

I have some experience buying bank owned houses. These houses become vacant for some time and have no owner to hire pest control. One in a how many bank owned houses are worth bringing back to life. I have actually seen where professional home inspectors have missed an important item in need of repair. A small crack in the foundation, maybe a high spot in the driveway or a wall that is off a inch.
Okay rats mice squirrels termites, evidence of cock roaches go to the property and investigate carefully, bring your flash light dont depend entirely on the inspector to find the blemishes. After completion of the purchase of the property hire a pest termite control.

Have the building inspected for all defects. Mice and rats will go to any shelter during bad weather. Of course you do not have bad weather in your area but even if there are pests they can be eliminated by a good pest control program or as I do seal all of the entry points and put out D-econ on a regular basis.

Hire an inspector before even thinking about buying the home. This person will let you know if the house is a good bargain or not and if it has pest problems or not.

If you don't get a building inspector you will be very sorry in the future. Get one soonest and have him tell you what shape the house is in before you buy.
