Law firm for ND suing me for $484.00 of unpaid bank debt?

Share |

I received a letter from a Law Firm stating they are basically trying to get the banks money. I owe them 484 dollars. It is from an account I canceled with them a long time ago (2008) because they charged me a fee on top of another fee but that's another story. What I am wondering is what is going to happen?...

When it comes to collecting debt, well, everybody is kind of different. Most places are willing to work with you so long as you're showing a good faith effort to pay your bills. As for any legal rights you many have, I don't know. What I do know is good faith and transparency will often get you further than avoiding collectors and lying. I know this really wasn't an answer, but I still hope you find the advice useful. Good luck!

You owe $484.00. You admitted that. Your current inability to pay is not a defense against YOUR ADMISSION.

So, a judgment could be granted against you and your current bank account[s] or other liquid assets could be garnished; or a lien could be placed against your real property; your credit report will reflect the judgment which could negatively impact job, rental + credit opportunities.

If you don't pay, after a few years, the law firm will simply go back to get the judgment renewed.

So, immediately negotiate a repayment plan + comply w/all terms in order to prevent court action.
