No its not.... since New Year's day was on a Sunday (a holiday regardless) then then Monday acts as the replacement.
As for the Credit Union answer.... the question wasn't "which bank should I join?".......
Try calling them, or you can drive over there and see if they are open. It's hard to tell from where I am (about 200 miles down the coast).
Join a credit union.
