i really agree with Wise heart...even when our ''mofty'' allowed using normal banks even though it's clear in the qur'an and hadeeth that riba is haram...i prefer shari'a....but what i know that there's no actual islamic banks in Egypt...
which don't have a fixed interest, and it only invests in halal projects, and it takes care of ur zakat...

well,i must say that, anyone who follows the opinion of our mofty,''la gonah 'alyh'' the mofty will carry those sins....but ''al halal bayenn wal haram bayenn'' the halal and the haram are clear and Allah gave us minds to use it.....

Wise Heart

First of all we have 2 opinions about Halal and Haram. The majority of scholars said Haram to use the normal banks, still we can take the opinion which we feel comfortable with.
God knows better.

I prefer a bank that goes with the Islamic rules and Shariaa. Also a bank with an Islamic private department.

If you care for the reasons, it'll be better to take the opinion of specialised people. (WA asa'alo ahl al zekr en kontom la ta'alamuon)

I'm convinced with this opinion because Islamic banks also gives an interest which not fixed. It's really lower, but I don't care for the difference as long as God knows I'm doing this for his sake.

The Islamic banks don't give normal loans with interest to be paid in all cases which is clear (Reba) Islamic banks have different systems to be like partners for the borrowers.I think this is better for all, the bank, the borrowers and the depositors. This way keeps the business in safe as all partners are like partners and will be affected, so they'll be more careful.

One more thing about Islamic banks; they invest only in (halal) business. Even if this is not true as some people says, we already give them our money for the sake of (Halal) investment. At least in the day of judgement we can answer question about our money and how we use it.

I hope god forgives me for any mistakes.

Even using a bank that deals in interest is not good....they may provide a 'sharia' compliant product, but better to use a bank that is shaira compliment by its very nature...HSBC is also a communist enterprise (Hong Kong Shanghai Bank Corp) ....also having a credit card even though it may be riba free, is also not quite what it seems....as if u are late then u have the acct go into a riba status....so many scholars have forbidden even this, because although the intention is not to pay riba, by accepting the card u have signed a contract dealing in riba which of course we all know is haram....Allah knows best....

In Saudi I use HSBC Sharia, but overseas I have a normal bank account that does not incur any interest.

★ESD EGYPT UBER ALLES★

a shiekh on TV, I think either Omar Abdel Kafy, or Yusuf Al Qaradawi said, those banks say that they have a section that goes halal...so that means the rest of the bank is haram?

Personally, I'll put my money either in cash and hide it, or in an account and not take the interest

To me it doesn't matter either way. I myself though don't charge people interest for money I lend etc. and I don't put myself in situations where I'm going to get charged interest. I try to pay on time and participate in things with lowest fees.

Just being smart with money, ya know?
