The one-way fare on a NJ Transit train from Red Bank (NJ Coast Line) to NY Penn Station is $14.75. The trip will take about 1 hour 15 minutes. Note a round trip is the same as 2 one way fares.

Bus Service from Red Bank to NYC is very limited.

On a NJ Transit bus - there is no direct NJT Bus from Red Bank to NYC. You'd have to take the NJ Bus 833 to the Freehold Center and then transfer to the NJT Bus 139 to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. The total one-way fare is $17.10.

NJT Route 833: http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/bus/T0833.p... - This route has limited service on weekdays and certain holidays - no weekend service.

NJT Route 139: http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/bus/T0139.pdf - This route runs every day but that wouldn't help much since the other route has limited service.

On an Academy Bus (weekday rush hours only ) from Red Bank:

To Wall Street (Lower Manhattan area) - One-way fare $16.00

Train is less than half the price of a bus ride.
