Identity Theft @ Bank of the West in Sunnyvale, CA?

I know I can't be the only one who's had major identity theft while using this bank. My bank account had been drained a couple of times, ATM check card numbers stolen and used, someone applied for a loan with my information with a credit union down the street from this bank, and someone in Southern CA got...

I was introduced to an organization called Prepaid Legal Service a few years ago, and then again recently...and wish I'd taken them up on their services. They offer extensive legal services as you need them by a large resource of attorneys and are absolutely everywhere. They also offer exceptional information and coverage (I believe) for Identity Theft as part of a package deal. A representative I met a few years ago actually provided a seminar specifically on Identity Theft and teaches you how to not only protect yourself but how to repair the damage if this unfortunate crime has been committed against you. Their fees are nominal and deducted monthly from your account.

Of course I thought I'd NEVER need to actually have an attorney on RETAINER, thinking that is a luxury only the wealthy can afford and I don't deal with tenants and such...so don't need one. Now I wish I had retained their services and your question may give me the push I needed to cover myself now and for my future.

FYI-I read of a man recently who lived back east, found the person who'd stolen his identity happily living in San Francisco. He actually spoke with the thief on the phone and the guy appoligized for doing so but said he really needed to keep it as it was working well for him promising he would'nt ruin his credit! Legal action from the local PD's was the same as the response you received.

Perhaps Sunnyvale does not have the expertise needed to complete the research in a timely manner as their jobs change frequently. You are aware, are you not, that the PD officers are only at that job for 50% of the time then become Firemen for the balance of each year? Personally, that kind of coverage does not work for me, I'd rather have experienced, 100% dedication to a chosen field...I wouldn't want a 50% fireman trying to put out a fire at my home, or attempting a fire rescue of a loved one from a burning building! Would you? Just as I would rather a 100% police officer follow up on a homicide rather than a fireman! (I wonder if they'll find the time to notice my response and give me grief for it??? I'll hope they aren't that bored!)

Check 'em out!

FYI - I am not affiliated in any fashion with the aforementioned organization nor do I know anyone personally that sells the service nor will I receive any compensation whatsoever by suggesting you contact them.
