I was pick-pocketed whilst in Paris. I had a bank statement in my wallet with my home address on it?

I've told the bank, but they didn't sound too concerned. Would it be possible for criminals to steal my ID and de-fraud me with the bank statement?

Close your bank account immediately. It's better to be safe than sorry later. If these criminals are from the states, it might be a good idea to put it on fraud alert through Trans Union Fraud Dept. Their toll free # 1-800-680-7289. They will notify the other 2 bureaus and must be renewed every 90 days in order to keep it active. You might as well request your free credit reports from annualcreditreport.com or call them toll free @ 1-877-322-8228 for all 3 free reports.

Yes it is possible, however it is unlikely. Identity theives need very little to start stealing your personal information.
A bank statement is just one of the items they might use. I hope your bank took notice, and will advise you if any out of ordinary transactions take place.
I have one credit card that requires a verbal conformation and password to make any changes to the account. While it is inconvienient, it might be wise to set something up with this account at least for a while.

Usually in order for someone to steal your identity, they'd need further details like your date of birth and your National Insurance number. I hope your NI card wasn't in your wallet or you are in trouble!

You didn't need to tell the bank as this isn't their problem - if someone is going to steal your identity they can't do anything about it. That's why they weren't concerned.
