I have a 2003 sunfire that System too Lean (Bank 1) and it won't start how can i repair it?

i have a 2003 sunfre 2 door couple 2.2L engine and it won't start it turns ove but won't start. the test i ran on it said po171 System too Lean (Bank 1) what do that mean and how can i repair it.

what that tells you is that you are not getting enough gass on one side of your engine. if it is fuel injected then check the injector power with a "noid light" to make sure your inj. are firing& check the fuel pressure regulator to.. next check ALL the vacuum lines on the engineand replace them if they are bad or soft. them
n check your fuel pump pressure. oh and also if the o2 sensors are the same switch them out side for side to see if that one is bad befor you do the rest . After you switch the o2 sensors take off the neg bet cable for 1/2 hour then hook it back up and see if it starts if it does then check the codes after you shut it off. see what it says then.

p0171 just means the engine is not getting enough fuel, check fuel pressure that will tell u if the pump is working, if you have fuel pressure check for spark to plugs, I have replaced o2 sensors on these cars but the sensor will not cause a no start. hth
