Go with the flow

Possible problem:
Banks are now requiring minimum balances for opening an account (ex: $100).
And a lot of banks have monthly fees of about $10 if you don't keep at least $300 to $500 in a checking account.
You could get a checking account, but you would be clobbered with fees.

Ask your parents what bank they use.
Google it, and see what they have to offer.
If they belong to a credit union, you might be in luck.
^ they may only require $100 to open an account and have free checking.
Keep asking questions here. But go talk to your parents first.

Yes, as long as they co-sign. I assume your parents are cool; I have known kids who had checking accounts with their parents as co-signers and their sleazy parents ripped them off.

I got both my kids checking accounts when they were 14, and I also got them debit cards. I stick their allowance in their account and they use their cards to access funds.
