Cut Bank is a small town in Northcentral Montana and has about 3,000 people. It is a typical small town in Montana with ranching and farming the main source of income. It can be extremely cold there in the winter and can get very hot in the summer too. The record low in Cut Bank is -47 and the record high is 107, a variance of 154 degrees. Yikes. You will discover that Cut Bank is not like anyplace in NY. It is a prairie town and there are not many trees, except in the town itself. I don't know of any nearby lakes except the reservoirs at Tiber and Lake Francis.

Cut Bank is the county seat of Glacier County and abuts the Blackfoot Indian Reservation to the west. They have an Amtrak station and the nearest airport would be in Great Falls which is about 115 miles to the southeast or the airport at Kalispell (where I live) which is about 140 miles to the west.

The best thing about Cut Bank would be its proximity to the Glacier/Waterton International Park, truly one of the most spectacular national parks in the USA or Canada. It is also not a long drive to get to Calgary or Edmonton Alberta Canada for NHL games or CFL football. Edmonton also is home to one of the world's largest malls. You will need your passport to go into Canada and also to return to the USA.

Good luck on your move there. Cut Bank, while a small town, is a nice place with good, decent and hard-working people. I have been in Cut Bank many times in my life as I grew up about 80 miles away from there and played high school sports against the Cut Bank Wolves. HIgh school sports is the one unifying factor in a community like Cut Bank, just as it is in most small communities anywhere in the country.
