Assuming that you mean Brooklands Metrolink Station in Sale and Greenbank Station in Hartford, there is a choice of route.
One is to Altrincham on the Metrolink then a change to a train to Greenbank.
The other is Metrolink to Manchester Piccadilly and a change to a train to Greenbank.
Either way involves only one change, but it is quicker via Altrincham. On the other hand, via Piccadilly gives an opportunity to break your journey in Manchester's City Centre.
