Got a cheque tax return from HM revenue but have no bank account. No ID also how to cash cheque?

Used my brothers bank when I was working now I got a cheque for a tax return of over 1200 but have no bank myself and been to most banks but don't have enough ID to open an account. How else could I cash the cheque

I would hope you have some sort of ID, even if not enough to open a bank account. There are various places around that will cash cheques - do a Google search. They will all require some ID, but probably not as strict as the banks' requirements.

Ask the revenue if they will take the cheque back and pay the refund directly into a bank account.

You could have done this when submitting your return....

Send it back to HMRC. Explain that you don't have an account, and nominate your brother as the person entitled to receive the refund. Your brother will receive the cheque, he can pay it into his bank and can give you the money.
