Hon, contact the bank's fraud department. Tell them there was an unauthorized withdrawal from your account. The collection agency already had your information and once they got your agreement to make payments they likely took it all. In the future, never make any agreement over the phone with anyone from a collection agency who calls you - never. Collection agencies are sharks, they will do whatever they can to collect a debt - they will lie, deceive and cheat. All they are concerned about is getting that collection and they often do unauthorized actions, sometimes even illegal, but if the person doesn't know, they get away with it. You may not be able to get your money back, but you need to report the unauthorized withdrawal to the bank's fraud department. Only the IRS can take money without permission. And I'd be willing to bet since the collector you spoke to got your agreement to pay, they used that as authorization to take all your money. That's the problem - remember I said shark, well, once you said, okay, I'll pay, they took that to mean pay in full. Never again deal with a collection agency by saying okay, I'll pay - once they have any agreement from you they will use it against you. But do report the unauthorized withdrawal to the fraud department and see what they can do, and do it asap.

I'd advise you to get another bank, but that may not be possible, whether the original overdraft was your fault or not. You should probably talk to a lawyer. Cash your paychecks at Walmart.
