Do you have to have a certain amount of money in your bank in order to enter Australia for a working holiday?

I am hoping to apply for a working holiday visa for Australia but I'm not sure if you have to have a certain amount of money in your bank in order to enter?

Please help!

The following is taken from the DIAC website:

"Financial requirements
You must have access to sufficient funds to support yourself for the initial stage of your holiday. Generally, AUD$5000 may be regarded as sufficient, but the amount may vary depending on your length of stay and the extent of your travel. You should also have a return or onward ticket or the funds for a fare to depart Australia.

You may be asked to provide evidence. Evidence may include a certified copy of a bank statement and an air ticket out of Australia."

The above should be taken only as a guide. If you have long term free accommodation and/or a well paid job waiting for you when you arrive, you may get by with less, but don't count on it. You won't be asked until you actually arrive in Australia and it's not unheard of for people to be turned back at the border.
