No the democrats did not block mortgage reform. They blocked that horrid faux bill that was disguised as mortgage reform. Then they provided real mortgage reform.

I disagree . While they did need to pass regulatory reform it should be the responsibility of the bankers to the banks to make good on the loans . No one told them they had to produce liars loans . No investors checked on the banks to see their investment was safe . The bankers merely got away with more and more as their greed grew . I doubt it was a conspiracy to blame president Bush . The banks should never have been bailed out with our money . Too big to fail was a lie by the Bush administration . If we bailed out the banks for the bad loans we should have got the titles to the homes . That is the way bankruptcy works .
