They will take every step to insure the problem has been thoroughly investigated. Banks are not in business to steal money from customers. Regarding the camera, it does not show every area of the bank in every frame. The monitors usually "sweep" the different parts of the bank. I made a deposit once where I actually put in more money than I had written on the deposit slip. I was credited properly. I believe you have made an honest mistake and did not have as much as you thought. Whenever counting a cash deposit the teller always counts and "faces" the bills (makes sure they are all the same direction). This is done for protection of the customer as well as the bank. By the way, customers do not directly deal with the FDIC. That is the agency that assists the bank in the event of a default.

I think I responded to your question earlier. Your chances aren't terrific to get back your money, if indeed you counted it right. Go back and check out my other response.
