CHASE Bank is changing too much, can anyone suggest a different bank for me?

In California, my Dad said he went in to cash his check and they told him that he had to keep a minimum of $500 in his checking account come February 2011, or he would be charged a fee of $10 @ the end of the month if the amount was not met. So much for 'Free Checking' at chase anymore. I am gonna close my...

Howdy! I am a Californian with a debit card so I hope I can be of some help. I am not sure about your first question, but as for your second you can have a debit card and no monthly minimum fees at Bank of America. There are locations everywhere and their service is very good.

This is pretty run of the mill stuff. Requiring the customer to keep a certain amount of money in his/her account to get free checking.
Shop around, or try a credit union. But I suspect most (if not all) financial institutions will require a minimum balance in either checking or savings accounts.
