No. Although, Diamond City, located on the Eastern end of Shackleford, was once the most populated village of the Outerbanks. Two devastating hurricanes hit in the later part of the 1800s, forcing all its residents to relocate to the mainland towns of Harkers Island and Beaufort.
Now it is protected as part of the Cape Lookout National Seashore.

no, i think its all state land, it floods all the time, thats why people dont live there now, anyhow why would you want to, it is beautiful but i dont think it would work out well, you can live on Harkers Island, and ferry out to Shackelford, there are some nice homes for sale on Harkers
