Aberystwyth and Reading are the best universities on the list. Both have very good reputations.

Aberystwyth is a small seaside town on the west coast of Wales. The local language is Welsh, but almost everybody can speak English. You say you don't want to be isolated, but Aberystwyth is the most remote university town in the UK. The nearest big cities are Shrewsbury and Swansea, which are very far away. The nearest airport is Birmingham. So you're not going to be able to see the big cities if you go to Aberystwyth.
But I can't say enough good things about Aberystwyth.
The town's very friendly. Half the population are students and the university is very protective of its students (i.e. they always keep you informed and if you have any problems, they'll always try to help you). It's not the best university academically, but they do make sure that students enjoy their time in Aber.
The town's very pretty, and there are some world class beaches down the road. The nightlife is amazing! Seriously awesome! Aberystwyth has 50 drinking places per square mile!!!! That means there's roughly one bar for every 160 students!!!! And most of them are really good.
If you want somewhere with character, you need to go to Aberystwyth. The place oozes character.
Not many people have a bad time in Aberystwyth. It's a weird place, but a crazy, fun place too.
Plus, in the summer there's nowhere better. Some of my best memories are of sitting on the pier or outside the Glengower pub, drinking pimms or beer, looking out over the beautiful sea, enjoying the sun with friends. Also, constitution hill is great fun in the summer.
Plus Aberystwyth is probably the least expensive university town in the UK.
I'm currently studying in France, but I would give anything to return to Aberystwyth University!
