My problem is they keep lying to me or dodging my questions in order to make them seem like they are trying to help me and...

It's best bet to go with a credit union. They're upfront with everything, And they still have actual free checking accounts. Their interest rates are higher than big banks, even local banks.
Here is a list of credit unions in your area (a link to one). Check them out, do a comparison. Find the right one for you.

Go with the flow

You are trusting banks too much.
You should go online and view their fees before making choices.
Never open an account anywhere without going online and looking at all the fees first.
All banks are the same, a teller will never tell you the negatives.

Google banks in your area followed by the word checking account
And read all the minimum requirements and fees.
Never sign up for overdraft (that was a mistake) at any bank.
You'll find that credit unions and small local banks will have lowest fees.
Never walk into a bank and ask an employee to tell you about an account. Never.

I love the small local bank. I know them, they know me, I understand the fees and policies, and if I have a problem, I can find a face I know. I don't need my ID to deposit funds, the find my account info if I need it, they work with me.

I'd start there
