So I bought a book from barnes and noble website... which also had the book seller named better world books. I payed online and they sent me an email saying the book was ready to ship, later they said they no longer had the book but they will refund me my money in 24 hours... I'm concerned about how they will...

They can't refund what they didnt charge. Check your bank for the next week or so, if there is no charge then you are safe, if they charged and is showing pending, wait a day or 2, they may do a reversal, if it is charged then conatct Barnes and Noble and ask if a check will be mailed to you or will they do a reversal.
